• PFS Coordinator (Region 7, Marianna)

    General Responsibility:

    Work under the direction of the Lead Regional Prevention Representative. Develop, implement, and evaluate Prevention/Early Intervention programs in up to 6 counties.

    Essential Duties:

    • Participate in special projects and raise awareness on behavioral health prevention through media campaigns and public presentations
    • Attend prevention trainings for behavioral health programming and attend Training of Trainer (TOT) prevention trainings
    • Conduct behavioral health prevention trainings and provide technical assistance to groups within designated counties
    • Work to build local infrastructure for youth prevention through groups that will follow the Strategic Prevention Framework
    • Assist the Regional Prevention Provider (RPP) with strategies for tobacco compliance, accessibility, and validity of the merchant list
    • Assist with statewide data collection of the Arkansas Prevention Needs Assessment and assist with follow-up and follow-through activities in coordination with the RPP.
    • Collaborate, correlate, coordinate and cooperate with other Division of Adult and Adolescent Behavioral Health Services (DAABHS) providers, DHS Divisions, and other local and state agencies to develop prevention linkages and infrastructure
    • Enter information into the WITS system and submit reports in a timely manner
    • Maintain records and files related to tasks, as well as reports
    • Establish and work with coalitions in designated counties including youth coalition development and sustainability
    • Develop and update county stakeholders and leaders and maintain regular contacts in the designated counties
    • Develop and update regional stakeholders and leaders and maintain regular contacts in the designated counties
    • Organize, recruit, and conduct region-wide meetings/conferences/forums, etc.
    • Emphasize community capacity building and youth anti-drug coalition development within each county served
    • Provide regional and state level training in evidence-based prevention programming
    • Other duties as assigned

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree in an applicable field or experience in prevention related areas
    • Must be a Certified Prevention Specialist/Consultant or commit to obtain certification within 24 months
    • Valid driver’s license
    • Reliable vehicle & automobile insurance
    • Ability to lift and carry up to 35 lbs

    Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills:

    • Knowledge of the prevention field
    • Public speaking skills
    • Ability to effectively work and communicate with various groups and individuals of diverse backgrounds and educational levels
    • Ability to think and write critically in preparing technical documents and reports
    • Ability to use data driven plans and SPF in determining direction of prevention efforts for self and when providing TA to others
    • Ability to follow direction; adhere to protocol; interpret and apply policy to job duties
    • Computer skills: Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook, etc.

    Supervisory Relationships:

    While the PFS Coordinator must work independently to satisfy grant requirements, the Representative is officially an employee of Crowley’s Ridge Development Council, Inc. and is under the direct supervision of the Prevention Program Director.


    Requires extensive travel in region, some in-state and limited out of state travel

    Hours per day or week:

    • Full time position
    • 40 hours per week; 52 weeks per year
    • Frequent evenings and weekends
