History

The Crowley’s Ridge Development Council has come a long way since opening in 1969 under federal auspices. At that time, with a budget of $35,000, CRDC was assigned responsibility for providing services for Craighead, Greene, Jackson and Poinsett counties.

Today, with a budget of $8-million and some 110 employees spread out over eight counties, the northeast Arkansas community action agency may be larger, but it still does what it was originally established to do - and more. In 1998, the agency assumed duties in Cross, Crittenden, St. Francis and Woodruff Counties, in addition to the original four geographic entities it was assigned. Despite the increase in territory and personnel, the goal of the organization remains much the same
